mandala CAL update

Hey everyone! :)

So the CAL has reached it’s first week and it is going strong! A lot of creative people are crocheting along with this beautiful pattern and it is just a treat to see the Flick pool fill up with such mandala goodness every day! :)

Blog posts
Some of the CALers have blogged about their progress, here’s a list of all those posts: (last 4 posts are about the CAL!) (3 posts about the CAL; Kate has already finished TWO mandalas!)
(if your post isn’t in this list but you would like it to be, leave the link in the comments!)

And if those posts didn’t get you started, check out the Flick pool contents…

Just look at all that cheddar! ♥ Such amazing mandalas and those color combinations… I’m happy every time I check out the Flickr pool :) If you have pictures of your mandala, feel free to add them to the pool here:

Don’t have a Flickr account but still want your pics in the pool? E-mail them to me and I’ll upload them to the pool for you! :)

  • Monika spotted an error in the pattern; on round 11, it says on the last line [1sc in next 3 sts of rd 10], where she thinks it should be round 9. I agree with Monika. This is the round where you crochet some parts in the loose chains you made in round 9. Thanks Monika, I’ll pass this on to Carola! :) (and if anyone thinks we’re wrong, please let me know in the comments)
  • Hazel had some trouble after the first 4 or 5 rounds; she couldn’t seem to find the right loops to work the following rounds in. Her solution was simple: mark the first loop you need with a stitch marker, for easy spotting in the next round! :)

My mandala is finished, but I haven’t gotten around to taking proper pictures of it yet. I’m thinking of making one more, and this time using more subdued colors like off white, grey, beige, and the likes.

And thank you everyone who wished me a speedy recovery after my fall last Monday. My knee is a lot less swollen and has changed color from blue to a spectrum of purple, green and yellow ;) It still hurts a lot though, especially after walking around for a bit or when I pick something up from the floor. I’m going to keep an eye on it for another week and if it still hurts this much next week, I’m off to see the doctor.

That’s it from me today! Oh, don’t forget you can still join us in the CAL! :) Just let me know in the comments so I can add your name to the 10%-discount to-the-pattern-list! ;)

  1. I never noticed the thing about sc into round 10 but I have been following the charts mainly as I find them a lot easier to read than lots of text :) thank you for mentioning my post. all the mandalas are pretty…such a variety of colours being used!

  2. Hi and thank you for mentioning me too. I also found it is easier to mark the last and first stitch of each round. As there are slip stitch at the end and chain at the start. If I do not then I end up with extra stitches as I always have with other projects…… I have learnt my lesson, finally. Because I just love this mandala. All the Mandalas in this CAL are beautiful. Cannot wait to start another. Happy crocheting to all. :)

  3. These are all so beautiful! I just bought the pattern … hope to be joining you all soon :)

keeping my fingers crossed hoping your knee feels better sooner than soon!

  7. The mandalas are really beautiful and I whished, I could join this CAL. “Unfortunately” I have another very big project on my hook which I want to finish first. Do you think, there is a possibility for me to get the pattern and join the group in a few weeks?

    • Hi Smoky! You can purchase the pattern right now, as the discount expires in two weeks or so. I’ll put you on the list for that. And you can start whenever you want to! :)

  8. Hi there,
Just stopping in by way of Babajeza’s blog. I’m working on a series called The Granny Square Project, and I’m totally taken with your mandala CAL. Although I don’t know for sure, it seems like they must be related to Granny in some way!
I love the group of pics – look at all those colors!
I also am completely jealous of your tree house get away – oh how I would love to do that! What a great find, and so close to home for you. Fabulous!
