happiness level

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

First things first: thank you SO much for voting for me to be a participant in the upcoming Design Wars 4! Your votes really made all the difference; with 42% of the total votes cast, you made me the new Design Wars Challenger!

I cannot wait to get started on my design for the competition. I have a few ideas already; maybe an afghan, a motif, or a mandala… I’d love to hear all your thoughts on this! :)

And then there’s this. I made you all an info graphic. Boring, right? Not mine! It will make you smile (I promise!). The other day I was thinking how starting a new project makes us all very happy, as does finishing said project. But the time in between – well, that’s an emotion anywhere from pure bliss to complete anarchy! So after some extensive research (monkeys may or may not have been used to verify results), here’s the info graphic to showcase my findings:

As you can see, upon starting a project the happiness level is way up there. You just started your new project, using some new yarn perhaps, or that gorgeous skein you found at the bottom of your stash and completely forgotten about; it’s all good, right? You’re working away and then… your happiness level drops. The pattern is more difficult than you thought; the rows are becoming increasingly bigger and take more time; your hands are getting sore; you might not have the time to work on it as much as you would… The reasons are a plenty, making your happiness level drop to almost sub zero. But then, something magical happens. You slowly start to realize that your project is almost finished. Just a couple of more rows, a few ends to sew in, some blocking perhaps; and the fact that the end is in sight makes you happy, thus increasing your happiness level to where it was when you started your project!

And when you chart it like I have, it’s clear to see: your project has put a big smile on your face :)
