Yes! I can finally show you what I’ve been working on! :D
I am SO stoked; today is the day that the final designs have been revealed. Me and 9 other ladies have worked really hard on this round of Design Wars, and we are all very excited to show our designs to everyone! Did you check them out yet? :)
It actually took me some time to arrive at my final design. When I received my yarn (given to us by Red Heart Yarns) I initially planned on making an afghan. Ambitious, I know! But this yarn didn’t want to become an afghan. Not in these cute colours, anyway. I had a couple of different motif ideas, and after a week of trial and error, I came up with a simple yet effective motif, and decided to make a wrap with it. And that’s when things really got interesting. I planned on joining them all into a triangular shape, but when I laid the motifs on the floor to see what it would look like, I wasn’t totally sold on the design. Yes it looked okay, but it wasn’t special. And this is Design Wars, so it had to be something special! In the end, this is what I came up with:
The Dancing Hearts Wrap!
I still can’t believe I made this, when I look at the pictures. I’ve never designed a shawl/wrap before, and it’s certainly a bit different from designing mandalas! And can you believe I took these pictures myself? I had a little (maybe a lot of) help from a photography friend, who took us to the most fabulous location to shoot the photos at. Totally worth the drive, don’t you think? :)
If you like my design (or any of the other designs), head on over to the Design Wars blog now, and cast your vote. There are 5 categories for you to vote in: 1. Best use of yarn; 2. Best use of colour; 3. Most original design; 4. Best idea to gift; and 5. Best design to wear.
You can vote for 11 days, starting today until August 24th. All designs will be available for purchasing after the winner has been announced. May the best one win! :)
