shawl wars – part I: the wedding shawl

Remember shawl wars? I was working on 3 shawls at once, and it was quite a close race; they were almost all finished at the same time!

One however was clearly a winner, and that’s the shawl I made with the gorgeous Wolcafé ombré yarn! In the end I decided to use my own pattern, the Dancing Hearts Wrap. Thanks to all who suggested it! :)

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love using ombré yarn for motifs, it gives such a cool effect! I wore this shawl to a wedding, so I dubbed it ‘the wedding shawl’ fairly quickly :) I’ve been crocheting frantically for one and a half weeks to get it finished, but it was so worth the effort! I don’t have pictures of me wearing it at the wedding, so I asked my friend’s daughter to model it for me when I came back!

I made that button bracelet the day before the wedding by sewing a bunch of red and brown buttons to a wide piece of elastic. It was done in an hour and I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on it! :)

Here’s the wedding shawl in all it’s glory…

I modified the final shape slightly by attaching two motifs to the tips of the shawl instead of the middle, to give it a more boho look (instead of a big heart shape). It allows for a very dramatic drape and I just love how it came out!

Alright, stay tuned for part II of shawl wars next week! Anyone want to guess which shawl I finished next? ;)

xo,
wink
